Your summary "hired as a man, fired as a woman" is wrong, Alan. Your client wasn't a woman. Your client was a cross-dressing man. You can argue he should have a right to wear a dress and heels, but arguing that he "is a woman" is factually wrong.

And that really is the core of the trans issue today. Because if a man can actually become a woman by putting on a dress (or taking hormones or getting surgery), then SHE must be treated in law, in every respect, as a woman. If, however, a man who does those things is simply a man playing a fancy game of dress-up, HE can be treated with kindness but still excluded from female spaces.

The issue of intersex / hermaphrodites is not relevant to this. That's not what's going on here. The law deals with sex (not gender) discrimination and there are only 2 sexes in all mammals.
