Professor, I am so sad and shocked about what is going on. Most people don’t even know the history of Israel yet they feel they can attend protests in support of terrorists. I recall your stories of not being able to find a job after law school even though you graduated #1 in your class. Didn’t we make any progress defeating antisemitism since that time? I had no idea how much hatred was still out there. I know how much you love Israel. I will continue to pray that all Israelis can some day live in peace.
After the incident in Ohio last week, I purchased one of these. I am of Irish/German Catholic heritage and an independent that leans conservative politically. There is no room in a free society with Anti Semitic demonstrations like this being acceptable or tolerated. Please know I respect you and many other Americans who are Jewish. I feel that we (Jews and Christians) are of the same god and heritage and that it pains me greatly to see my own countrymen act this way. I proudly display this on my house. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CKQ5WQ66/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The rampant antisemitism on display is chilling. I am so sorry for the Jews being targeted. I also fear for our western “civilization”. We have seen this happen before and it was ugly for all people. What happened to “Never Again”?
I am not surprised by any of this, but I don't blame the students entirely. The parents should be held responsible as well. Kids are a reflection of their parents, and their actions are a representation of the values they learn at home. This is the basis of their conditioning. While the school triggers their shadow and primal instincts, their conditioning is the response their unconscious uses to anchor the initial judgement about the situation. It is further fueled by validating the bias they form by finding people, narratives or groups that can support their distorted and often baseless view of the situation. This creates reactance, doing the opposite of what is advised, fueled by the sunk cost fallacy. Propagating irrational ideas that have already cost them something, such as in the case of the Harvard students whose job offers were rescinded.
You would have thought this toxic behavior and incurred consequence would have deterred any further actions, but nope, it fueled students across other campuses to protest as if saying, "You don't tell me what to say or do anymore, especially coming from a Jew." And so here we are. An objective parent would have pulled their kid aside and explained, "You can protest calmly as it is your right, but calling for the death of another human race is not only counterproductive to your message but will also jeopardize your future employment chances.”
Yes, she has been identified as Norwegian medical student Marie Andersen. The weirdest post of the morning is Jamie Lee Curtis posting a picture of Greta Thunberg and other activists holding similar signs.
It's a bit old fashioned, but two wrongs do not make a right, for anyone. The original attack was wrong, the Israeli response wass wrong. Both may be understood, but not forgiven, due to the context. Israel was right to retaliate but is quickly approaching (and surpassing) the horrors due to Hamas. I am sad to see you overwhelmed and your usual rational analysis overwhelmed by the horror of the moment.
Which, btw, is precisely why I've been advocating for Israel not to invade. We have very little public support. Its a diplomatic mistake, made incoherently when passions are high. It was the same mistake g.w bush made.

This hate propaganda demonstration is not acceptable in civilised society.

She supports death-how can she be allowed to enter a profession that places a supreme value on helping people live?
SMH

Don’t believe the propaganda coming from Gaza. No way is Israel “quickly approaching the horrors” of what Hamas did.
Hamas burned babies to death in ovens!
Yes I Can!! That’ a Norwegian student in Poland. There is a discussion about a University in which she studies showing her at the door.
As a Liberal, I cannot say I am delighted about cancelling anyone, including anti-Semitic leftists.
Violence is the whole another story.
Disgusting uneducated humans...
And she's smiling. Smiling at genocide.
How lovely.
Another product of Harvard, I presume.
One of the worlds most bigoted institutions.
