Universities no longer teach objective journalism; journalists today are told that they should be social justice warriors. Objectivity is considered a derivative of "whiteness", "white privilege" and "white supremacy". The truth is no longer objective, because the "The truth" has been replaced with "my truth". In other words, there are an infinite number of truths. It sounds very silly, but this is what they teach now in some Harvard classes.

Anti-science has become science, and science has become anti-science. And if they teach it at Harvard, then they are most likely teaching it at NYU.

You defended Trump because you care about the rule of law, and so now you are an enemy of the postmodernist left. And as you can see, they are not a small percentage anymore.

It's the "ME" generation. The FBI doesn't care about the rule of law, morality or the Constitution, because the FBI individual has political opinions so the individual's point of view comes first. Same goes for the DOJ, etc.

I'd say it's more like the Machiavelli generation. The ends justify the means. They'll do whatever they have to in order to get the results they want. Hang ethics or legality.

"ends justifying the means" is typically associated with Jeremy Bentham and classical utilitarianism. Some have interpretated Machiavelli's work, particularly his use of deception to achieve a goal as "ends justify the means" but he was more or less the framer of realpolitik; he was concerned with practical governance as it relates to providing prosperity to Italian principalities, and he understood that a principality must defend itself, and so he set out to describe ways -- some of which might be considered immoral -- to secure it's liberty and prosperity. I think it's historically more accurate to ascribe realpolitik to Machiavelli (statesmanship), and "ends justify the means" to Bentham's classical utilitarian view which was proposed in contrast to Lockean and Kantian ethics.

Degradation of ethics seems pervasive these days. It is treated as a joke or as something folksy from a bygone era.

I agree with you 100%. You did the right thing.

It's called "Solutions Journalism", funded by the Gates Foundation - it is a euphemism for "the ends justifies the means" which is a euphemism for "lie, cheat, steal, defame, do whatever it takes to achieve the result you are looking for". It is disgusting, and we all have to be extremely cautious of anyone who is tainted by this kind of bad teaching. I just wish some past great journalists could sit them down and correct this woeful behavior. If there is no ethics or integrity any more in anything, the country will rip itself apart. Perhaps the only thing holding it together are the folks like you and me who are willing to keep our integrity at all costs despite the woeful treatment we are receiving. Perhaps they even instinctively know this and perhaps that explains why they were so upset by Trump who said, ok, fine, you want to treat me like that I'll do the same to you! All hell rains down when we do that, and perhaps they freak out so much (calling half the country domestic terrorists) because they know it is the end of the country if we do all go down that road.

So he approaches you and then blames you for his being a sleezeball. Typical regressive.
