We told our children years ago that we would neither support not pay for an Ivy (or similar elite) university. There are places you can go to get a great education: Hillsdale, Ozarks, Steubenville, BIOLA. The Ivys are not on that list.

I like to say that Harvard, Yale, Stanford et al are the educational equivalent of Maytag. Maytag used to produce high quality appliances in Iowa and Tennessee. Those 1960's to 1990's products birthed the "bored Maytag repairman" legend and ad campaign -- for good reason. However, Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool and built on their assembly lines. The company still pretends they're "Maytag quality" and tries to charge accordingly, but consumers started noticing about 10 years ago.

Elite American universities are still pretending they're the best education in the world: somewhere to think deeply about how the world really works. But they haven't been for a while. How can Harvard's motto ("veritas") can be squared with its embrace of postmodernism? It can't. The others are similar. They're just running on reputational fumes now, and consumers are starting to notice.

Charging $200K for 4 years worth of political indoctrination in unreality eventually will fail -- reality always wins in the end... because it's REAL. These schools will either reform or be replaced. Hopefully Gay's comments will only hasten the process.

Alan Dershowitz, I am sorry you are feeling neglected, actually abused and bruised. The institution you have worked for has slipped from greatness.

A university, any university loses all credibility when it indoctrinates its culture what to think, instead of demanding that everyone be accepting of the free and open exchange of ideas and opinions.

But alas, Harvard, and the majority of American universities have decided to be ruled by influence peddlers and the vast sums of money they bring...much from sources that don’t have the best interests of our nation at heart.

With all due respect, this is the only time I will share my thoughts with you, until uou leave the anti-American warship known as the Democrat Party. Good day sir.

"...Harvard’s double standard approach to free speech: contextual free speech for the enemies of Jews and their state; censorship for supporters of Israel and critics of Harvard."...100% correct!

I love the footnotes! I hope that's not a dig at Ms. Gay ;)

Too late for Dershowitz to gain credibility to be published

Dershowitz has never voted other than Democratic and thus has in fact supported the DEI program since Democrats are the originators and supporters of the DEI regime on campuses. He wants to criticize it at the eleventh hour now, but is hypocrtical in continuing to embrace and vote for Democrats. As a hypocrite he has no credibility and no one will publish him.

With all due respect, Naomi, you are confused, jumping to conclusions skipping steps, making illogical arguments.

Why would not leftist, DEI supporting publication not publish a, according to you, DEI supporter, Democrat voter? Even if hypocrite? Especially a hypocrite!

I stop at that, to save your and my time.

Happy, peaceful, joyful, kindness filled 2024! 🫶🏼🕊

With all due respect, I will save my time. You cannot vote DEI Democrat and then say it is inappropriate that Democrat institutions implement DEI. That is what is confused, as are you.
