"The only reason that Ireland, Norway and Spain can safely recognize a Palestinian state is that they do not have to live with the consequences."...100% correct!

Many Palestinians live in Norway, even a former PLO hijacker. The consequences are "de minimus" since Norway gives them equal rights, equal access to justice, dignity,, protection against discrimination, they are allowed in all of the workforce, they are not forced to live in restricted areas, they are allowed to go to good schools for education and to travel...and of course Norwegian vigilantes, police and military are not allowed to kill or mutilate them with impunity.

I'm reminded of a joke from the early days of the Iraqi occupation: "Iraw is just 4 men away from being a modern, tolerant, liberalddemocracy. Unfortunately, those 4 men are named Washington, Madison, Hamilton, and Jefferson."

Perhaps liberal democracy and Islam are simply not compatible.

Great article. My only quibble is that it still imagines the Palestinians as fellow travelers regarding those Western values we hold dear. The reality is very different. Their Islamic supremacist view doesn't square with any of them.

Islam is a totalitarian system.

The Palestinians have no idea of how a democracy works, and are not interested in having a better life anyway.

They will affix suicide belts on their children. Who does that in the West?

Their belief system is the cultivation of a poisonous , unfounded grudge against Israel, and an ardent wish for its extermination, just as Hamas does. No wonder Hamas is so popular in Judea and Samaria.

In short, the Palestinians are not interested in being helped to improve and join the proactive world. They feel entitled to the massive help they receive, to be permanently sustained by the tender hearted -yet Israel hating -nations of the world ,they danced and rejoiced after the sub-human Hamas 10/7 massacre, rape and mutilation, aided by mobs of Palestinian civilians, just as they rejoiced on 9/11. I saw them in real time jumping up and down as the towers fell, crushing thousands of human beings. And they have the arrogance and the gall to demand that the US act in their favor. The West is to blame for raising these entitled ,delusional, unaccountable populations nobody wants, for good reason. And yet, they are the tired West's "noble savages", a primitive state the overdeveloped West yearns for.

We should lower our expectations of any Palestinian reasonable approach to live side by side with the Jews they so much hate- their land is to be judenrein- whilst we continue to exterminate Hamas, forge additional bonds with more Arab nations, get rid of Iran, and help Arab states occupy Gaza and deal with the perversions in Palestinian thinking.

There is no two-states solution. That boat sailed in 1947- 1948. And in every Israeli and international attempt ever since.

Mr. Dershowitz, it is clear that Arab and Muslim supremacist values and beliefs have always been behind the Palestinian cause. This is why I can’t understand why people such as yourself, who would never make excuses for a white supremacist cause, treat the goal of a judenrein Palestinian state as a legitimate project that should be supported. There may be a tiny minority of Palestinians who don’t seek to destroy Israel, but the vast majority do. Why not come out and say the idea for a Palestinian state has never been anything other than a strategy for eliminating Israel? That is the truth, and the world should confront it, instead of trying to paper over it.

Liz, you are wrongly accusing the old man. In all his life, he has never wanted a Palestinian state on any land arguably granted to Israel by God himself, in whom Dershowitz loudly claims he does not believe.. Recently, after 75 years of Israeli oppression, he says he supports a Palestinian state "not now or anytime soon" but "sometime".. Dershowitz is talking of time, not relating to a normal human life span, but as to Planet of the Apes eons. As the saying goes "justice delayed is justice denied". And the delay of a Palestinian state is its denial. Meanwhile he can say to his ever increasing number of critics, " I am reasonable. I said I support the 2 state solution. I am more liberal than my friend BiBi"". Dershowitz knows from his tight Israeli government connections that a Palestinian state will not be allowed to happen in his lifetime, in Netanyahu's in that of the sabras. Note Dershowitz never condemns Netanyahu for his opposition to the 2 state solution. Dershowitz NEVER condemns the Jewish settlement of expropriated areas outside Israel's 1967 borders. He never calls for the removal of these internationally illegal settlements. With 600,000 occupying Jewish settlers committing vigilante violence daily with impunity on any Palestinian within chasing distance, what land in Palestine would be part of any Palestinian state? Most of Palestine west of the 1967 border is simply surrounded by a web of hyper racist Oztma Yehudat asnd Kach settlers (Beh Gvir's constituency)., Yet Dershowitz does not want a 1 state solution. Dershowitz will never support for Palestinians equal rights and access to equal justice, freedom from expropriation without compensation, residence restrictions, equal education so that UNRWA may ber free from funding of Palestinian schooling, equal job opportunities and of course laws forbidding discrimination asnd promoting dignity. Go back to the early 60's and read about Dershowitz on his way to celebrity success advocating on TV talk shows for equal rights for all "Negroes" in Alabama. The segregation in the White People's State of Alabamas had to end.. And it was a winning argument which propelled his career. But for Dershowitz, now the mega rich celebrity, sitting sat the table with top Likud politicians, the Jewish state is exclusively for the benefit of Jews, according to its Nation State Law of 2018 and is therefore somehow an exception to international universal human rights requirements. Israel will never grant equal rights to its indigenous population of Palestinians. Jews stay as the master race in the area. . Maybe for a thousand years. Palestinians must "evolve to become civilized". And Lebenstraum is needed.for Israel. So forget the idea of a Palestinian state. We will doubtless see release of the FBI files on Dershowitz's involvement with Epstein Child trafficking centuries before a Palestinian state emerges.

LOCK HIM UP

FBI Director Ray refused to tell Senator John Kennedy during a Congressional hearing last week whether the FBI investigation of the interstate Epstein child trafficking ring including Dershowitz's activities is ongoing. Standard FBI practice seems to be that files are released when the subject of the investigation is finally dead. If he really wants to "prove his innocence" in a manner other than paying a fortune to an accuser, and if he really wants "all pertinent documents to be released", Dershowitz himself may petition for release of the FBI files pertinent to his personal activities in the Epstein child trafficking.

Dershowitz is, despite his decades of public and private polemic on behalf of Israel, unregistered as foreign agent under the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) (22 USC 611 et seq, 3571) The penalty for nonregistration is up to 5 years imprisonment plus fine. Dershowitz is well known for his repetitiously claimed close association with Netanyahu and the governing Likud Party of Israel, FARA requires foreign agents to disclose political activities and public disclosures of relationship to the foreign country , inc,luding receipts and payments in support of these activities. As a hard core zionist, Dershowitz is characterized by dismissing or whitewashing every report of Israeli human rights violations as well as atrocities. He functions as an Israeli propaganda agent.

FARA is generally being enforced for foreign agents other than for Israel, The DOJ has issued a circular of 28 recent cases, connected to agents for China, Iran, Ukraine,, Egypt and Russia. In one case, Barry Bennett, operator of Avenue Strategies, was issued a Deferred Prosecurion Agreement and had to pay a 100 K fine. The foreign country for whom he worked in this case was very uniquely kept secret by DOJ. Avenue Strategies is however known for employing a Netanyahu associate in 2017.

Dershowitz seems to be protected from consequences both in regard to Jeffrey Epstein activities and failing to register as a foreign agent for the Israeli government. Dershowitz argues free speech, which he vehemently denies to anti-Israel protestors. But there is another major FARA goal: protection of American elections and Democracy from subversion on behalf of a foreign power.. Serving as an unregistered celebrity political influencer for Israel and its internationally directed institutions, Dershowitz's activities cannot fully be tracked to facilitate assessing their scope and effect on American democracy. He argues on behalf of the Israeli goveernment for American milirtary action in the heart of Iran. to take out installations and leadership and even effect regime change. He uses his podcasts, cable news programs and debates like that at the Soho Center with Glen Greemwald (the audience voted 3 to 1 against gojng to war with Iran) Tracking Derrshowitz's activities on behalf of a manipulating Israeli government is is why his registration is necessary. He must supply information about who directs him, who gives him assignments, whom he reports to, whom he advises, whom he has influenced and how, what he tells the Israelis as well as his monetary compensation for acting on behalf of the Israeli government and its leaders..Failure to register is criminal, up to five years imprisonment plus that fine. He is very rich but would find imprisonment burdensome.. Let's get DOJ to lock him up. Should not Biden's managers direct its lawfare against Dershowitz now? Hasn't Dershowitz now even said he would not vote for Biden? Or does AIPAC and Mossad come to his rescue...

Another off the wall diatribe fromthe 85 y.o. stroke survivor who is demonstrating he is in a race with Biden for who needs assisted living first. Never any balanced research, and aleays with the propagandistic "Everything for israel" message, one assumes he is paying off a debt to Mossad, perhaps for getting Alex Acosta to grant Dershowitz an immunity deal covering all his Epstein child trafficking related activities.

Ms McCain, Senator John McCain's wife who runs the World Food Program, has stated in her official capacityu there is famine in Gaza. She is part of a chorus with harmonizing messages. One feature of Israel's population is that there are no national or local efforts to send food to the starving Gazans. Reminds of Jonathan Swift's "Modest Proposal" incentivized by English unwillingnrss to feed the starving Irish, who then died in their hundreds of thousands. Anothjer feature is thast the IDF when not genciding with American bombs, refuses admission to hundreds of food laden trucks daily since every truck must be searched, item by item, the trucks must be completelky unloaded, reloaded, the unloaded again for the next search. Drones show lines of food trucks forming 30 mile longlines waiting that day in vain for entry to Gaza. A West bank reservist found apair of toenail clipperson a truck driver. They were confiscated. Nothing else suspicious was found but that one truck which might have had the possibility of entry to Gaza was denied entry. Not a single truck entered Gaxa that day. And when trucks enter Gaza, they may pass thru a gauntlet of theiving stone throwing and Uzi carrying Otzmat Yehudat radical Jews, maiming at stopping all trucks heading for Gaza while of course enriching themselves---all with impunity since the Israeli legal system does not prosecute Jews doing this or other activity against non-Jews.

Dershowitz is so old and physically/mentally unagile , he cannot even appear to be relevant anymore. Just like Biden. I have to admit, I am embarassed to tell people I listen to his podcast. It is like going into the radio archives and listening to Father Coughlin or Josef Goebbels. Dershiowitz belongs to another time and place, when the South had structural segregation, when some parts of the South had a legal age of sexual consent of 12 years, and when it was okay for one ethnic group to claim intellectual and genetic superiority over all the others.

Excerpt:

Today is Yom Yerushalayim, which marks the reunification of Jerusalem on the third day of the Six Day War of 1967.

See here – and share widely – a stirring and beautiful historical recounting of that reunification:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wlPw3NUeb0

~~~~~~~~~~
More than 3,000 years ago, King David chose Jerusalem as his capital because it wasn’t in the allocated area of any one of Israel’s 12 tribes; it was to be for all of the tribes equally.
David’s son, King Solomon, subsequently built the Temple within the city in approximately 950 BCE.
That was eons before Islam was even founded in 610 CE.
~~~~~~~~~~

Following the destruction of the Temple of Solomon by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, a Second Temple was built in roughly 516 BCE. The Temple Mount today is the site of these temples. The Kotel is part of the retaining wall that was built to support the enlarged mount on which the Second Temple, expanded by Herod the Great, sat.

From the time that the Romans destroyed the Second Temple in 70 CE and gained control of the area, until modern times, Jews had no sovereignty over Jerusalem. For that period of almost 2,000 years, however, Jerusalem remained the holiest site for Jews. Jerusalem was always remembered in prayer, and there was always a Jewish presence in the city. By the mid-1800s, there was a Jewish majority in the city. Jews the world over face Jerusalem when praying.

The city was never declared the capital by any of the various groups (Ottoman, Byzantine, Crusader, Mamluk, etc.) that occupied the area over the centuries. In all of its existence, Jerusalem has only been the Jewish capital. It is within the borders of the Jewish homeland as set out by the League of Nations in the Mandate for Palestine in 1922.

Jerusalem was divided in 1948, when Jordan retained control of the eastern part of the city at the end of Israel’s War of Independence – the only time in Jerusalem’s history that such a division occurred. The Temple Mount and the old Jewish Quarter were in Jordanian hands; Israel controlled the western portion of the city.

Jordan’s attempt in 1950 to annex eastern Jerusalem, along with Judea & Samaria, was recognized by only two nations in the world (Great Britain and Pakistan). It was not legal under international law because the area was taken in an offensive war of aggression.

There is no such thing as “East Jerusalem,” as a separate municipal entity. There is only the eastern portion of united Jerusalem. Eastern Jerusalem has a heavy Arab population only because during the years that it was under Jordanian rule, it was Judenrein.

Not only did King Abdullah destroy or desecrate 58 synagogues in eastern Jerusalem and desecrate thousands of tombstones in the ancient Jewish cemetery of the Mount of Olives, he also refused to honor a commitment written into the armistice agreement to allow Jewish access into eastern Jerusalem to visit holy places and to utilize the cemetery.
