The Trump justice department acted within its constitutional authority to drop the prosecution of Mayor Adams. The president, through his attorney general, has the power to determine prosecutorial priorities — such as the deportation of illegal aliens over the prosecution of a mayor who he believes could help him implement that policy.
You are 100% correct, quid pro quo is standard legal procedure. In this instance, from what I understand, it was an issue of Democrat Lawfare when Democrat Mayor Adams refused to bow to the Democrats illegal migrant mantra, and was punished for it by Democrats, with Trump-like made up crimes. Trump saw the expediency in freeing Adams to facilitate his Trump policies.
I would like to know if it is ethical for prosecutors to heap heavier unproven felonies onto minor misdemeanors —I.e. “parading” —in order to coerce defendants to plea out of fear of living the rest of their lives in prison for crimes they never committed?
It seems to me the fact that plea deals are the primary grease that keeps the justice system operating smoothly is a serious problem.
Reiner Fuellmich story like Asange but way more dauntinting to 1st Amendment rights. Alan gotta chime in repping Julian his thoughts with Reiner, both INTERNATIONAL?
Guilty pleas are a recognition by the criminal justice system that not every case can or should be tried and in cases of this nature, prosecutorial discretion begins with the President and the AG as opposed to the Sovereign District of NY
