Wasn't it John Flynn that wrote a book titled "As we go Marching" in which he argued that socialism in general, and left wing politics more generally, led to the fascism in Germany and Italy, and the subsequent horrors? Mussolini was a syndicalist, and Hitler, if we consider his views in Mein Kampf, was quite far to the left.
I only mention his book, because the general premise is that to control distribution you need to control the means of production, and to control the means of production you have to centralize power into the hands of one actor. To get that power peacefully, that actor must convince people there is an enemy. The enemy could be MAGA supporters; it could be Israel; it could be anyone white and many Israeli's are white; it could be anyone who opposes the state agenda; it could be the rich; it could be all of those. But there must be at least two groups: the Good guys and the fictious bad guys, and you need people to believe that the bad guys are the problem. Religion cannot be permitted. Alternative views must be canceled.
This is the type of group identity indoctrination that we are seeing in academy, and it's one of the reasons people ask: why does Alan Dershowitz, the mega-genius from Harvard, who knows all of this, still support the democrat party when a large faction promulgates a hateful ideaology that will lead to gulags and concentration camps which killed so many Jewish people. What will it take for you to vote for DJT or RFK jr?
One can only wonder.
Unfortunately, Professor, this phenomenon is not uncommon. There have been instances during my discussions on platform X, where individuals, initially sharing common interests on various issues, have abruptly manifested attitudes reminiscent of Calvin Candie from Django Unchained when the topic shifts to Israel. It's a disheartening and troubling observation.
