Wasn't it John Flynn that wrote a book titled "As we go Marching" in which he argued that socialism in general, and left wing politics more generally, led to the fascism in Germany and Italy, and the subsequent horrors? Mussolini was a syndicalist, and Hitler, if we consider his views in Mein Kampf, was quite far to the left.
I only mention his book, because the general premise is that to control distribution you need to control the means of production, and to control the means of production you have to centralize power into the hands of one actor. To get that power peacefully, that actor must convince people there is an enemy. The enemy could be MAGA supporters; it could be Israel; it could be anyone white and many Israeli's are white; it could be anyone who opposes the state agenda; it could be the rich; it could be all of those. But there must be at least two groups: the Good guys and the fictious bad guys, and you need people to believe that the bad guys are the problem. Religion cannot be permitted. Alternative views must be canceled.
This is the type of group identity indoctrination that we are seeing in academy, and it's one of the reasons people ask: why does Alan Dershowitz, the mega-genius from Harvard, who knows all of this, still support the democrat party when a large faction promulgates a hateful ideaology that will lead to gulags and concentration camps which killed so many Jewish people. What will it take for you to vote for DJT or RFK jr?
Nazi is short for National Socialist Democrat Worker’s Party of Germany.
Their Russian counterparts Bolsheviks: Russian Socialist Democrat Worker’s Party.
How many Socialist Worker’s parties who are right-wing do you know?
Just like two above, neither is Democrat Socialists of America.
As to Dersh’s support for The party which purged moderate Blue Dogs sans a handful, I’ll use a line from Some Like It Hot: “No one is perfect.”
Alan’s actions, be it in civil rights area, or Israel, etc. speak way louder than his even his words.
But, yes, even popular with his constituents former VP candidate Lieberman was pushed out and had to run and win as an Independent. So, yea, why, Dersh?
Unfortunately, Professor, this phenomenon is not uncommon. There have been instances during my discussions on platform X, where individuals, initially sharing common interests on various issues, have abruptly manifested attitudes reminiscent of Calvin Candie from Django Unchained when the topic shifts to Israel. It's a disheartening and troubling observation.
This seems to have happened since high school. Classmates would tell jokes about Jews. When I didn’t smile, they would apologize and ask if I was Jewish. (No was the answer). In the last few decades my family became leftists, so arguments break out whenever I say anything in defense of Israel. I have not mentioned the Hamas murders to my siblings because I don’t want to hear the both sides trope.
Please, do not despair. Anti semitism is a very ancient disease, and even flourishes in place where there are no Jews. Karl Marx created Communists, and the Jews on Wall Street control global capitalism. However, we Jews have still survived 4000 years. Israelwill prevail. All you have to know is ironically, the words Mein Kampf and Jihad, mean the same thing, "my struggle." Of course, anti semitic Arab leaders, like the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, collaborated very closely with Hitler. As an American Jew, with family in Israel, I view this as a great opportunity. I believe Israel has the resolve now to destroy Hamas, once and for all. We are dealing with pure evil. My hope is that Israel use every weapon at its disposal, to eradicate Hamas, and that includes nuclear weapons, if necessary. These are the same jihadists, who danced in the street at 9/11. When we say say never again, we mean never again.
I agree with the comment before me.....this is not unusual....in fact more and more on the substack sites i go on i see comments that blame Israel for the entire global situation....and these articles are not even political.....that SQUAD in Congress should have been condemned years ago the very moment they started posting anti Israel anti Semitic sentiments.....but they were weren’t.....no, one of them gets to be on the foreign relations committee.....give me a break.......and all I got from my liberal Jewish friends was “well it has always been this way”.....really?.....racism of all kinds is not acceptable......it is simply not acceptable.......and the problem is that the msm has been anti Israel in my entire lifetime of 74 years.....i remember The NY Times being anti Semitic and anti Israel when I read it at the age of 17.....i stopped that slimes newspaper when I was a teenager......people are stupid....and the msm has taught them the wrong history of Israel and the Palestinians....and now it has become truth to all those brainwashed......just like the vaccine.....just like lockdowns.........we are told what to believe and all of it is lies and look now where we are at.....i am sick....
i read the NYTimes too, but after the Shoah, which I found years later was not reported by Durante. I believe I was inoculated from anti-semitism when I was a child by reading Anne Frank’s diary and becoming her best friend. My father also informed his children what an evil it was, as was racism.
Students are easily brainwashed by socialist organizations that are on campus 24/7. The students only ever hear one side and become human robots. I know, it happened to me.
When people tell you who they are, you should believe them.
The unfortunate thing is that all these Harvard law students will be happily hired by leading law firms after they graduate. There will be no repercussions. Now if one of them expressed even lukewarm condemnation of Donald Trump (as opposed to the full throated "threat to democracy" line that shows you are on the right side of history) that would be career ending on the spot... but supporting mass murder of Jews isn't a problem.
And in answer to your question Alan, yes, they do support it.
Regardless of how common these beliefs are, they are sickening and wrongly ignored by most. Evil ruthless terrorizing murderers should be stopped in their tracks.

One can only wonder.

Very true....i am sick in my heart.....

Thank you for this sharing. 🙏🏼🩵🙏🏼
This is woke anti Semitism which has metastasized like a malignant tumor in the woke world for decades
I have always supported Israel, and always will. Today, even more so.
