Sir, thank you for seeing history for the harsh reality that it is. Young people always seem to think they have “discovered” truth and idolize the wrong people as strong and on the right side. Maturity takes time. Reading and understanding the atrocities of history may seem boring, but every generation needs to learn these lessons. God bless you, Sir. I enjoy your books, TV shows, and these online missives. I stand with Israel.

I agree that radicalization and statism is a serious concern, but it's coming from the left not the right.

And the name the 'Nationalist Socialist Party' was not intended to dupe anyone. Hitler was a socialist. He was not a free market capitalist. He wanted to centralize investment into the hands of a single actor, then use that actor to subsidize private sectors. In other words, he wanted to plan the economy through subsidies and coerce private enterprise by having a government agent on each board, and an office in each company.

The jews were the 'problem' according to Hitler because he believed they controlled the finances. If only Germans -- what he called 'real germans' -- had access to investment, he mused, they'd live in a utopia. That's what he sold to the public. And it's not much different than what the left is selling to the public today. If only the 'minority' had access to the capital. If only hollywood, the government and the banks didn't have so many 'white people.' including those horrible 'jews' we'd all live in perfect order and harmony.

Hitler's plan for Germany was top-down, state capitalism in the same mold as the CCP. That is also the goal of the left in the United States.

Which begs the question. If you oppose statism, which I know you do, why do you support socialism. You cannot have socialism without statism.

There is another form of cultural statism: i.e, regulation that keeps women out of certain professions or regulating what kind of sex you can have in your bedroom. This has often been wrongly associated with the 'right'. Cultural statism can come from both sides of the aisle.

But as Millei, in argentina correctly pointed out, the socialists will kill you. Cultural statism might be a nuisance, but socialism is the worst kind of statism because it will literally kill you.

These people will continue their coercive policy of distribution, subsidizing companies, centralizing investment until they capture the means of production. Until, for example, they control entire industries like Health care. What kind of health you can get, and the quality of that health is then determined by an apparatchik.

And that is just the start. Soon, it's control over the banks, control over energy, control over farming, and then control over what you can eat, produce, own, etc, etc.

Be careful who you vote for, Alan. These are not your friends. Don't be a 'useful idiot'.

Alan made that perfectly clear. Most of his article was an attack on leftists.

Alan understands the threat of the radical left, but Hitler didn't misname his party. Hitler was a socialist; his policies were socialist, particularly his desire to centralize all investment, which he used as a bludgeoning stick; we see this to some extent with Vanguard, Black Rock and State Street, which control these massive pension funds, goverment funds, and who use their power in the marketplace to set Global agendas. We also see it when government subsidizes certain industries. One example: although there are many, is Biden's recent EV subsidy which he claims was to subsidize the poor (really a backroom deal for his donors) and which he sent to none other than Marthas Vineyard, not exactly the poorest place in the nation. This can be weaponized in other ways too: for example, economic zones which allow some companies to play by different sets of rules. When a company plays by a different set of rules then it naturally gains a market advantage; mom and pop stores go out of business, and monopolies and oligopolies begin to form. Such behemoths then can partner with government (public/private partnerships) which further centralizes industry and goverment, which in turn leads to totalitarianism. I see a contradiction between Alan's hatred for statism in general, and his support of socialism more broadly.

There is a philosophical darkness that has befallen our nation. It teaches hatred & intolerance. When a people are dehumanized it becomes easy to commit murder, torture, rape & extermination. Humanity doesn't change & history repeats itself. I believe that our Republic is in serious trouble. A nation that tolerates, excuses felonius behavior, that permits its citizens to go homeless, that allows 100,000 to die each year from fentanyl, that refuses to secure its border, where serving in the military is disparaged & where Justice is nothing more than a word, may be doomed.

Young people are not kids Alan. And kids are not young people. Having sex with a kid is a criminal offense and pedophiles belong in jail.

Such a good piece, Professor! Thank you.

You are 100% correct, of course. I do remember the days of Che Guevara...makes me laugh as I read and owned all his books at the time. It was quite a popular thing to do....I was young, impressionable and ignorant just like today's youths, so I fully understand what is going on. Doesn't make it right however.

Oh dear. I Have educated my kids that Isreal has no right to exist as it has been created by stealing someone elses country on the basis of ethnic superiority. Not only Racist but a settler colonial colony surviving through ethnic cleansing and apartheid. This is not misleading, its the facts

Moron, Israel did not "steal" someone else's country because "Palestine" was NEVER a country, but a territory controlled by various empires over the centuries. Furthermore, Jewish people are actually the indigenous people of Israel. Your comment is 100% misleading, or rather should I say that your comments are 100% LIES.

You keep telling yourself that if it makes you happy. Most people (outside of US and Israel) are not listening

I don't give a shit what most people outside of the US and Israel think. They are unimportant and have horrific histories of violent and genocidal antisemitism themselves.

Ok you have a right to be ignorant of actual history, but may I suggest you read the professor's book "the case for Israel," and then come back to discuss
